As of May 18, 2012 I am
suspending the paint and detail shop indefinitely. Work
has picked up a bit and the kids sports programs are taking up a lot
of time on the weekends leaving little time for much in between.
Those customers that have contacted me will still be able to get the
work done, but I'm not taking on any new projects at this time.
As I get time, I'll post new items for sale on the appropriate
pages. Thanks to everyone who has had work done in the past, I
appreciate your business!
Thanks for stopping
by. I hope you enjoy the website and continue to stop back
often as I am constantly adding new stuff.
May 18, 2012:
Finished up a series of cars and put them into the weathered
gallery. These range from abused (graffiti wise) to fresh
repaints.
May 15, 2012:
Finished up another SD70ACe engine tonight. This one in the
Santa Fe Super Fleet scheme.
May 12, 2012: Finished
another pair of PROCOR 4-Bay
hoppers tonight, but this time in Blue.
May 9, 2012: Added a
bunch of new items to the custom gallery tonight. Two SD45's
in the Santa Fe Super Fleet colors,
two MRL ES44AC's, two
Great Northern engines, and one
Chessie System GP7. I've
been working on all of these concurrently over the last 3 weeks and
finally finished them.
May 5, 2012: Finished
another pair of PROCOR cars
tonight, but this time they are 4-Bay hoppers. While I like
how these cars are turning out, they aren't for me. The owner
is anxiously awaiting all of the these to add to his growing fleet
of custom cars.
May 4, 2012: Finished
another pair of PROCOR tank cars
tonight. This pair was done in a dark green paint scheme. I
also finished weathering another
86' auto parts car.
May 2, 2012: I
finally got a chance to finish weathering a set of 7 boxcars for my
layout last night. I took photos of them this evening and
posted them in the weathered
gallery. I need space on the work bench more than anything...
May 1, 2012: Added
the remaining 3 BNSF gondolas and also
added a Norfolk Southern SD45 that I
finished.
April 29, 2012:
Completed detailing a DRGW SD50
tonight and added it to the custom gallery. I also finished
some BNSF gondolas and posted those
as well.
April 26, 2012: Added
a new gallery for PROCOR tank cars this afternoon. Finished up
a pair of tankers, but the photos didn't come out all that well.
I need a sunny day to get the full light in the work area.
I'll try and get better shots this weekend. Also added a trio
of abused gondolas to the weathered
gallery.
April 23, 2012:
Uploaded some more weathered
cars to the gallery.
April 15, 2012:
Finished two engines today for a customer in Australia. They
are posted in their respective
EMD and
BNSF
galleries. I also added some new pictures to the
layout
page after finishing a Domino's Pizza kit.
April 1, 2012:
Besides being April Fool's Day today, I managed to get some work
done on a project I started back in December. I was custom
painting a BNSF SD70ACe in the Super Fleet colors before I got
distracted with other stuff. Pictures are now posted in the
BNSF
gallery and one larger shot
here.
March 31, 2012:
Finished detailing and changing the road number on an SD90MAC for a
customer. Photos are posted in the
Citi Leasing Gallery.
March 24, 2012: I
have started a new layout and posted the progress up to this point.
I actually started it back on the 9th, but just posted the pictures
and built the new page for it. Updates will be posted as I go,
so stop by often to check out the progress I make in between all of
the other projects I have going on...
March 22, 2012:
Complete another round of fantasy cars tonight. This time for
the Canadian National.
March 19, 2012:
Finished the Conrail
MT-4 this evening. This was a
fun and interesting project that took about 2 weeks to complete.
Some of that was waiting for parts to arrive.
March 14, 2012: More
progress on the Conrail
MT-4.
March 11, 2012: Well,
it's certainly been a busy weekend for finishing up models.
Completed two more
Great Northern engines today along
with an additional set of placards for GN shops.
March 9, 2012:
Finished up a Kato GP38-2 in
Norfolk Southern Horsehead colors
today. I also started playing around with making my own decals
and experimented with two
trailers. Still need to work
on figuring out the best way to get the decals to stick to the
projects. The larger the decal, the more it seems to roll at
the edges.
I've also started working on a new project for my recently completed
SD38's. Conrail normally used these in conjunction with a
slug, either an MT-4 or MT-6. I'll show the progress
here as
I chop an RS-11 into an MT-4.
March 4, 2012:
Added some excess stuff to the For Sale pages, both
engines
and freight.
March 3, 2012:
Finished a fully customized
BNSF GP30u this afternoon. The
unit started out as an undecorated engine before matching all of the
details against the actual BNSF 2401. This one took me
awhile to complete with all of the detailing that was required
before and after the painting was done. Wiring the ditch
lights was a little harder than I thought it would be because the
wires are smaller than I'm used to working with.
February 29, 2012:
Completed another batch of cars tonight. I had been making
steady progress on them for the last few days and just put the
finishing touches on all of them today. Four cars are 50'6"
ACF Boxcars in
Norfolk Southern
and three are Atlas PS-2 Hoppers that are weathered. All seven
are custom painted.
February 24, 2012:
Completed another round of 33K tankers today. I'd been working
on them for about 10 days and just finished them up today. Ran
out of decals so had to wait for the shipment to come in, so they
sat on the bench for about half that time. Ended up with four
Norfolk Southern
cars for a customer and one
Conrail Fantasy car for me. I
have no idea how I came up with putting the Conrail SD50 "We Support
The Troops" scheme on a 33K tanker, but it came out pretty good in
my opinion.
February 23, 2012:
Completed a pair of Conrail SD38's today. This was a fairly easy
kitbash to accomplish since the hard part was done already by
Mark 4 Design with the long hood. I found out the hard way that the
shells are a little more fragile than standard injection molded
plastic shells. CR 6957 shows the scars on the Engineer's side
were the shell broke. I still think it looks good. Also
added a BNSF
SD70ACe that I finished last weekend. This one has
a small twist to it though, it's in the Heritage 2 paint scheme.
February 18, 2012:
Completed a pair of Illinois Central E9's today and posted them into
the custom gallery.
I also completed a pair of 33K tankers for Great Northern.
Continuing the theme of different colors for the
GN,
this pair was done in Gray.
February 11, 2012:
Completed renumbering 7 Kato E9A and E9B shells this afternoon.
It was a fairly quick and painless job for the most part. The
newly numbered engines can be found in the
Union Pacific gallery.
February 4, 2012:
Completed a pair of
NYO&W F3's and also a pair of
ex-Conrail Leasing
C30-7 units this afternoon. The Conrail units
were purchased from Santa Fe in the early 1990's and put into the
leasing division. The units are painted in the familiar
Conrail blue, but they do not have any logos on the long hood,
front, or back of the engines. The CRL and road number were
the only things on the cab. Sometime in the late 90's, the
lease units were placed back into CR service and the L was removed
from the cabs leaving CR as the reporting mark and stencil.
January 28, 2012:
Finished a pair of vehicles this weekend. I've added them to
the
Structures page and renamed it to
reflect vehicles and structures.
January 26, 2012:
Finished weathering and detailing a pair of Conrail GP38-2's for my
roster. Check out the photos in the
weathered cars gallery.
January 22, 2012:
Finished a new batch of NS and INRD cars this past weekend.
Check out the custom gallery for the latest additions. I also
uploaded several new locomotives to the roster. As I get time
between customer projects, I'm slowly detailing and upgrading my
engines to DCC.
January 2, 2012: I
finally finished the Taco Bell I had been working on for just over 2
years. Started the project in 2009, finished it today...
Pictures are in the
Structures page. Also
finished an Indiana Railroad caboose today. Next up, 16 INRD
cylindrical hoppers...
December 30, 2011:
Finished up 4 new engines in Great Northern colors. I've
posted pictures in the custom gallery.
December 24, 2011:
Finished up another pair of Indiana Railroad engines. This
time, a pair of EMD SD70ACe's are wearing the INRD colors.
December 17, 2011: I
finished up a Great Northern Fuel Tender this afternoon and also
added a new page for
weathered cars. I added the first two
today after spending a few days wrecking them...

December 11, 2011:
Finished up some more 33K tankers in Indiana Rail Road (4 each) and
a Kato F7 in Norfolk Southern colors. I'm off to a conference
this week so my next post with completed items might be closer to
Christmas.
December 3, 2011:
Finished the Norfolk Southern (ex-Conrail) ES44AC engine this
morning. I know it's not prototypical, but I like the Conrail Quality
paint scheme and am fairly confident that they would have gotten
them had the split with NS and CSX occurred a few years later.
So, that's why I went with that scheme.
November 30, 2011:
Finished a pair of Providence and Worcester Enclosed Auto Racks.
These were fun to do even with all of the masking required around
the posts.
November 26, 2011:
Finished up another batch of cars for a customer.
November 25, 2011:
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and survived the
Black Friday shopping experience. It's been awhile since I
last updated my N Scale Roster, so I took shots of all my engines
and they are now uploaded. Some have been modified, but most
are still stock. I have one engine on the bench right now and
I'll post photos of it when I'm done.
November 21, 2011:
After a long layoff, I finally finished the first set of custom
paint jobs since moving to Germany. It took me a little
longer to finish the projects since I'm working at a full time job
again...
October 1, 2011: At this time, the detailing and paint
shop is OPEN. Please feel free to send in your requests
to brian (at) briansnscale.com and I'll get
back to you as quickly as possible. Turn around might be a
little slower due to the expanded sports seasons my
boys are in. I'll do my best to keep up with the pace I set
while at
Fort Leavenworth.
I've added a quick search button on
the side of the home page. This is the only page it's found on
and does not collect or store any data that I'm aware of.
